Norway

My first time to a cold country was my trip to Norway 2 winters ago. This was a rather spontaneous trip with some University friends. It was a short 4 day break in which the days were filled with skiing, sledging and iceskating. I had never tried skiing before so this was a nice opportunity to try it out. All I can say to the others if they ever read this is; I'm sorry I sucked so hard at skiing. Apart from when I was gripping onto my friend terrified as we slowly slid down one of the green/red (it's debatable) slopes, I just spent most of my day on the bunny slope with the sickeningly talented Norwegian toddlers. Even though I came home bruised and in pain it was a really fun few days. I would definitely go back.

Frozen fish eye lakes.

Enjoy this photo of me trying to look like I know what the heck i'm doing.

The best and most hazardous experience on the trip was when we went (extreme) sledging. The sledge course ran for around 2 miles and when you got to the bottom of the hill you caught a small train back to the top to start again. This was soooo much fun. Hazardous however as one of us had a small accident and had to visit A&E, but I guess life always comes with a few bumps and scrapes along the way.

One of my favourite things about Norway when we visited was at that time of year the sun never fully rises, so we had the whole day to enjoy the moody sun set sky. (That's very technical weather talk there!)

Nothing better than hot chocolate on a cold -26 degrees day.

'Til next time Norway.
